If you really think about Network Marketing (I mean true Network Marketing, not like all the hypey types of programs out there), you can’t help but notice it’s spiritual characteristics. There are many parallels to the Christian Faith in true Network Marketing. Here are a few examples:
1. Long term success in Network Marketing demands that you focus on building relationships with those considering your business as well as with your downline.
Those who are in recruiting mode think only about their own interests, and are not very concerned with their prospects’ needs. They are interested mainly in the money to be gained by recruiting the person, instead of being a true sponsor to him or her. If a person feels they can trust you, and that you can truly help them reach their goals, they will stick with you.
2. Network Marketing is all about producing more of yourself, your time and your money.
By helping those in our downlines how to be successful and how to grow their businesses, our businesses grow too and we build a long term income. Whether or not they work, we cannot control, but we can certainly inspire and show them how to build their organizations. Christianity also is all about effectively reproducing our time and resources.
Jesus who was the Master, administered to his disciples the task of going out and reproducing more disciples.
Isn’t that what we’re doing in Network Marketing too?
Finding a few good ‘workers’, teaching them the business of recruiting and building other leaders and continuing to multiply this in our businesses. By teaching and training your downline, you’re not doing all the work and your business grows exponentially.
As we create a community where others also become teachers, more of our time is freed up and consequently, more and more people in our downlines can take on more responsibilities.
Teaching requires being in tune with your downline’s needs so that you can fill in that gap. What is the main problem they are having in growing their business? Help them succeed. Isn’t that what Jesus does with his followers? He meets his followers needs by teaching them and providing everything they need in his word (spiritual food) to live the holy life he wants them to live.
The church also is like this - people go there to learn more about God, to get trained in how to live the holy life in all areas of their lives and for friendship and encouragement.
We should be good sponsors and equip them with the right knowledge and skills so that they can effectively build their businesses. On top of good training, our downlines need to be provided with an environment where they are spurred on to higher heights, to achieve greater things and to be recognized and appreciated for their achievements.
Doing these things will surely help them make money, but (that’s right!), will grow our businesses too. Like the old saying says, “I prosper myself, by helping you prosper”.
3. If you genuinely desire to build a prosperous six figure income, using Network Marketing as your vehicle, then faith and patience are necessities for your travel.
Many Network Marketers fail in their home based businesses because they can’t handle the rejection that comes along with the package. When they don’t see immediate results, they hop to another opportunity or quit altogether.
In order to create a prosperous business in Network Marketing, one needs to believe in the process and scatter lots of patience on it as it springs up and grows.
So what do Network Marketing and spirituality have in common?
First, serving others and truly helping them is what the Christian Faith is all about. It’s not about taking advantage of others so that I can prosper.
Of course in Network Marketing we are working to create an income for ourselves, but we have to go about it with the right attitude and spirit. I like to call it servanthood marketing.
If making money is the only reason we are in Network Marketing, then that will show in how we bahave and how we come across to our prospects and downlines. People know when we truly want to help them be successful.
Second, even Jesus asked for assistance with reaching the lost with the gospel. He created a team of twelve men and equipped them with everything they needed so that they could bring others in and become followers of Jesus.
Those twelve men went out to the world, applied the teachings of Jesus, and taught others how to be followers of Christ also. Today the Gospel is known throughout the whole world as it has spread like a virus.
It’s no different with Network Marketing. Bringing 100 people into our business is not necessary to have a successful business. If we hand pick 5 - 10 people wisely so that we work closely with them, they will teach others the same things, so that our organizations are building momentum and growth.
Creating leadership and multiplying that leadership throughout our organizations just as Jesus did with his twelve leaders is what it’s all about.
Third, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you could move mountains” is a principle that Jesus taught and that Napoleon Hill also wrote about. Today, many authors have written books on how important it is to think positively.
It’s very unlikely that we will have any success in Network Marketing if we are thinking negatively. Thinking positively will help you achieve great things. Negative thinking will only destroy your vision and keep you in the rut.
I can continue to enumerate the many similarities between Network Marketing and Christianity, but it would take a book to finish it all.
The bottom line is this: We can’t build a Network Marketing business all by ourselves. Building lasting relationships, treating others as we would like to be treated and being honest in our business is what it’s all about. It’s about being the best that we can be and growing up.
It’s impossible to grow a successful Network Marketing business without the proper mindset, self-discipline and training. There are no plateau’s either. We are constantly being challenged to higher and higher ground!
