Toshiba has a surprise in the IFA with the news media of a tablet with touch screen itself.
The Journe Touch is treated as a high-end mobile Internet device (MID) with an emphasis on video playback: the device can play HD video, either in a reduced resolution of 800 x 480 or complete resolution through an HDMI output. Wi-Fi connectivity is also used in this way, and web browsing is considered secondary to the Internet streaming video from YouTube or Acetrax movie service.
The owner of this device also has streamlined access to Flickr and Picasa for photos and can chat through Windows Live Messenger to text or voice. Access to Facebook and RSS reader are also preloaded.
The MID Windows CE can also play music and has 1GB of built-in storage plus an SD slot for content. The battery life is short, offers 7 hours of music and two hours of constant navigation through the web.
