A Beautiful Entryway: First Impressions Last

When guests come over to your own, their first impression of your decor begins in the entryway. Many people invest a lot of time and money into decorating their homes, but they forget to add some personal touches to the entryway. Decorate your entryway to make your home feel warm and inviting to guests from the minute they walk through the door.

Focus on lighting. A good light in the entryway brightens up the home, and this creates a positive impression. It’s creepy to enter a house that looks gloomy, and a poorly lit entryway does just that.

You should also have a small table somewhere near your entryway. The table should be small and fit snugly against the wall so guests won’t trip. Place a beautiful flower arrangement on the table to welcome your guests and keep a small decorative bowl on the table to hold keys, cell phones, or other belongings.

Don’t neglect the walls of the entryway. Oftentimes, these are overlooked assuming that they’re okay to be plain looking. People don’t linger there anyway. Actually, painting it with the same motif as the rest of the house or a slightly different yet inviting shade can make people want to hang out in that part of the house. Seeing the house as a “home” upon entering gives a warm feeling to the guests. They will admire your home’s beauty in all angles, in every space.

Another recommended decor for the walls to further enhance the color is a mirror. The spot above the table is a complementing area to hang the mirror. It can add elegance to the room.

Photographs and artworks are also great wall hangings. Whatever you do to the rest of your rooms that look good, why not do the same with your entryway? You will no doubt have a perfectly decorated home. Photos and artworks can also be put in decorative frames.

Never forget a coat rack. Some have a mini cabinet most useful during house parties. Both these things can also be designed with details or colored in a nice shade to add decors to your entryway. If there is enough space, you can place a chair or a bench. Guests can be comfortable while taking off their shoes.

Of course, no guest should have to take off their shoes and then walk across a cold floor. Make sure your entryway is outfitted with a soft, comfortable area rug. Not only will the rug be cozy for everyone’s feet, but it also adds another element of design into the space. Choose a beautiful area rug that coordinates with your paint color and wall hangings. An area rug will give your entryway the finishing touch to become a warm, welcoming place for guests to enter your home.
